Coaching FAQs

What is Coaching?

“Partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” (ICF) You, as the client, set the priorities of topics. As the professional coach, I collaborate with you to make, meet, and exceed personal and professional goals. The process relies on you, as the expert on your own life. I am a trained professional with skills and tools that help access the power and expertise you possess. Let’s chat, and discover if coaching will best suit your goals.

How is coaching different than counseling or consulting?

Coaching is not counseling or consulting. It is critical that clients understand the forward thinking aspect of coaching. Counseling tends to have a retrospective approach, with a focus on deep healing. The counselor is the “expert” who helps you identify where things are broken and need healing in order to move forward.

Consulting uses a “field expert” approach. The consultant advises you on a specific action plan in their field of expertise, such as business development. Many business coaches act similar to consultants, when they tell you exactly what next steps or strategies to implement to improve your business.

Professional coaching partners with you while utilizing refined skills in a creative process as you explore and seek solutions for your situation. You are the expert. The coach does not give advice but instead holds space for you to explore with insight and accountability. The client is viewed as healthy, motivated, creative, and resourceful.

Where does coaching take place?

Individual sessions may be engaged in by phone or video chat. You can schedule sessions to fit your schedule, wherever you happen to be. I work with groups and teams on-site.

What will coaching help me solve?

You can work on almost any challenge- personal or professional. People find the accountability of coaching helpful for progressing and staying motivated.

Let’s start by identifying the issues keeping you up at night. I love to help people:

  • Identify leadership gaps and develop new skills.

  • Create action plans to live life to the fullest.

  • Find work/life balance and satisfaction.

  • Define a life purpose.

  • Develop clarity on their values.

  • Work with teams to maximize strengths, improve performance and morale.

  • Experience break-throughs in key relationships.

Call me to see if we are good fit. If I am not a good fit, I will try to connect with the right person.

I especially enjoy working with groups and leaders committed to creating a thriving culture. This often includes identifying the vision and core values, and then planning to maximize team cohesion and effectiveness. Good times to invest in culture include, getting started in a new venture, changing your vision, experiencing team turnover, or experiencing a growth stall.

Why should I pay a coach when I could/should be able to do this on my own?

Many of us know what we “should” do, but struggle to get, or stay moving. Other times, we are stuck and are unsure of what we should do. If that sounds like you, coaching can help. Coaching helps bring clarity AND momentum.  You can’t have one without the other. Clarity without momentum is just a dream and momentum without clarity is busyness!

Coaching is much more than a good conversation.  In my training, I learned powerful techniques of questioning and listening to elicit your hidden gems of wisdom.  You will gain clarity to help you create a clear action plan.  Schedule a FREE consultation to understand how coaching can help you thrive!

WHAT does the process look like?

In our initial conversation, we will briefly explore how coaching might benefit you. We will discuss your current ability to invest time and resources to the process.

Depending on your answers, we will discuss possible ways to meet your goals. These may include any (or all) of the following: assessments, one-on-one coaching, and group coaching.

If we determine we are a good fit, we will schedule the next step. I will send you intake paperwork that you will complete and return.  You will then be on the path to finding united momentum.

We can develop customized options for your coaching goals.
